Should I Get a Nose Job?

Rhinoplasty – also referred to as a nose job – is one of the most regularly requested procedures, but the reason for getting a nose job are not always purely cosmetic. If you have ever broken your nose or had some trauma that has damaged your nose, rhinoplasty may be the right option for restoring your nose’s shape. If you’re not happy with the way your nose looks, rhinoplasty is a fairly simple surgical procedure that can have transformative results.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Nose Job?

There are many reasons you may decide to have a nose job, but as long as it is your decision and you are in reasonably good health, there should be no reason why you cannot have rhinoplasty. The goal with rhinoplasty is to restore or build your confidence and self-esteem, as well as improve your comfort. Sometimes during a rhinoplasty, we will also address medical issues such as a deviated septum. The only real restriction to having a nose job is that your facial bones need to have matured completely, which usually happens when you’re a teenager. For girls, the average age is 15; for boys, the average age is 16. You should also be a non-smoker.

What Can Rhinoplasty Do?

In addition to changing the size of your nose, there are a number of ways a nose job can change your nose. The surgery can be performed to remove a hump or modify the bridge of the nose, change the shape of the nostrils or tip of the nose, repair injury to the nose, or repair a previous rhinoplasty procedure. You will have the opportunity to consult with a physician prior to the surgery to discuss your goals.

Is Labiaplasty Right for Me?

While labiaplasty is only medically necessary in rare circumstances, more women are opting to have the procedure to improve their confidence and self-esteem, reduce discomfort after childbirth, and improve their intimate experiences. If you are experiencing any irritation, discomfort, or even embarrassment about the size, shape, or sagging of your labia, a labiaplasty procedure performed by a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon may help.

What Is a Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a procedure performed to reduce the size or asymmetry of the labia minora–the “inner lips” of the vulva. It is a relatively minor outpatient procedure. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the procedure has a high rate of patient satisfaction. Some women opt to have perineoplasty – a procedure that improves the quality of the perineal muscles or vaginoplasty – an internal tightening operation designed to decrease the diameter of the vaginal vault at the same time.

How Do I Know if I Need Labiaplasty?

If you are experiencing discomfort from your labia – perhaps they are more visible than you are comfortable with, feel stretched out, or tuck into your vagina and cause pain or irritation, labiaplasty may help. You may have noticed the change in shape or size of your labia after having children and notice it when you are exercising or sitting. You may simply be dissatisfied with your sexual experience.

How Long Is Recovery from Labiaplasty?

Abstinence from sexual intercourse is required for six weeks. Other activities can be resumed after around three weeks. You’ll experience swelling and soreness, but the risks from labiaplasty are less than those you experience during childbirth. Following the physician’s instructions will be critical in a good recovery.
