The 22 Plastic Surgery Difference
Eyelid surgery at 22 Plastic Surgery begins with determining whether your goals require upper or lower surgery, or a combination of the two. To perform upper eyelid surgery, an incision is created in the crease, and excess skin and tissue are removed. For lower eyelid surgery, an incision may be created on the inside of the eyelid, to conceal any scarring. At this time, fat deposits and excess tissue are removed or repositioned to create a smooth under-eye appearance.
Sometimes, in order to achieve optimal eye rejuvenation, we combine brow lift surgery with eyelid surgery. A brow lift is performed by creating incisions near the hairline and elevating the brows and smoothing forehead wrinkles.
Once your surgeon has made all of the desired corrections to the eye area, he will close the incisions and you can begin your recovery.
What to Expect After Your Blepharoplasty
After your surgery, you will be asked to keep your head elevated for a few days. In about a week, your sutures can be removed, and you can return to most of your normal activities. Depending on which procedure or procedures we perform, recovery time may vary.
Results of Blepharoplasty
Although there may be swelling and bruising around the surgical site, they will subside on their own, and the eyelids will improve in appearance for up to a year. The scars from a blepharoplasty are well-concealed, and usually fade with time until they are virtually undetectable. Although the eyelids are still subject to aging, blepharoplasty produces long-lasting results.
