What’s the Difference?

Labiaplasty

is a procedure that is largely cosmetic. It’s typically performed to reduce the size or asymmetry of the labia minora–the “inner lips” of the vulva. For many women, elongated or uneven labia minora can be a source of emotional or physical discomfort. This is a relatively minor procedure with a high rate of patient satisfaction.

Perineoplasty

is a procedure that improves the quality of the perineal muscles. The surgery uses a special V-shaped incision to tighten the perineal muscles, leading to a “tighter” vagina and improved sexual sensation. There is some evidence that perineoplasty can improve some conditions such as occasional incontinence.

Vaginoplasty

is an internal tightening operation designed to decrease the diameter of the vaginal vault as well as elevate the posterior wall to enhance contact with the anterior vaginal wall during intercourse. It is ideal for women who have experience the loss of internal support, especially during sexual activity.

What is the Recovery from Labiaplasty & Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Your recuperation experience is dependent on the type of procedure you undergo. Surgical rejuvenation, including vaginal rejuvenation surgery, typically requires up to 5 days of rest at home, while treatment with CO2RE Intima does not require any downtime. Swelling and soreness are common symptoms but typically go away by themselves within a few days. Surgical patients can resume more strenuous activities after 2 to 3 weeks. Perineoplasty and vaginoplasty recoveries include abstinence from sexual intercourse for 6 weeks. Physical activity is allowed to resume after 3 weeks. During the planning of your procedure, we will provide you with specific instructions for caring for yourself as you heal.

What are the Risks and Complications?

As with all surgeries, labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation come with some risks, although they occur very rarely. These include bleeding, infection, and scarring, but they are minimized with an experienced and qualified surgeon. The risks involved during childbirth are much more likely to affect this area of the body than labiaplasty or vaginal rejuvenation.

Will Labiaplasty or Vaginal Rejuvenation Affect my Sexual Satisfaction?
