Are You Tired, or Do You Need Blepharoplasty?

How many times have you had to tell people that you’re not tired or sick, while thinking to yourself, that’s just how my eyes look, thanks? Do you get tired of people telling you that you should go take a nap or get some rest? Blepharoplasty may help you not only put a stop to the well-meaning comments but also help you look younger, more alert, and even improve your sight.

Do I Need Blepharoplasty?

Do you sometimes struggle to see clearly because your eyes are droopy or hang over your eyes more than they used to? Do you have puffiness or fat deposits under your eyebrows that occlude your vision or make you look like your eyes are closed when they’re not? Blepharoplasty may be the solution. It is a common procedure in which the excess fatty tissue and drooping skin is removed from above and around the eye.  The result is smoother, more youthful-looking eyes.

How Is a Blepharoplasty Performed?

The blepharoplasty procedure is performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon. To perform upper eyelid surgery, an incision is created in the crease, and excess skin and tissue are removed. For lower eyelid surgery, an incision may be created on the inside of the eyelid, to conceal any scarring. At this time, fat deposits and excess tissue are removed or repositioned to create a smooth under-eye appearance. The surgery can be combined with other procedures, such as a brow lift or a face lift.

How Long Does It Take to Recover from Blepharoplasty?

For most people, normal activity can be resumed within a week or two. For the first week after surgery, you will be asked to keep your head elevated. At the end of the first week the sutures will be removed. Recovery time may vary depending on what other procedures you have done in combination with the blepharoplasty.
